Irish Pub of the Week 📍 O’Brien’s, Ealing
It can’t all be pints in Shinjuku or Dotonburi, someone’s got to hold it down in Ealing. Fresh from enjoying the splendour of Japan’s fine Irish Pubs, I show my man of the people ethos by taking a trip to what many call The Best Pint of Guinness In London, if such a thing could ever be quantified.
And can it? O’Brien’s is a charmingly unassuming Pub, a street facing store front, whitewashed with the name proudly etched in classic Irish Pub font. It is the most unpretentious Irish Pub one could hope for, with its only nod to extravertion being the patented Guinness hut in the beer garden. I talk to the owner, explain who the legends of Irish Music Murals are to a group of curious Yank tourists, and chat to an Australian pest control man and a regular about how Man United are Shite and Rory Gallagher was amazing. All this , alongside £5.20 pints of the finest Guinness in the borough. Reassuringly and potentially the most Irish-Irish pub you’ll come across. And for that, I loved it.
