IRISH PUB/ BAR OF THE WEEK no.893 : HOMEBOY

⚡️🐕IRISH BAR OF THE WEEK!! No.893!!!📍Homeboy, Angel

In 2004, Angel Islington was the first place I ever had a pint in London. This monumental occassion took place in a Sports Pub in a shopping centre above a H&M, where I probably had a Heineken as thats all they had then. Dark times. Thankfully, age hath given me wisdom to know that there are finer things. And one such thing is Homeboy Bar ( bar, not pub).

Homeboy is unmistakably Irish without being “Oirish”; one of its finest cocktails is the Taoiseach, which gives me joy watching people trying to pronounce.

The Taosieach is different to the President, yeah?”notes Bella, her keen eye for the nuances of the Irish parlimentary system on show.
“The president is the nice man with the dogs”

** Fun Fact; Current President of Ireland gave me €10 while busking on Shop Street in Galway.”Don’t quit your day job kid!!” he didnt actually say but he might well have meant.

Anywho, in a touch of sheer class, they give you some Barrys tea bags with your bill, which have saved me on a couple of hungover emergencies. It is, primarily a cocktail bar, ( i’d recommed The Wogan) but just for the craic they’ve decided to add a Guinness tap and serve up one of the best pints your likely to get. And its brought to your table, the valet parking of the pub experience. Modern Irish hospitality indeed. Also theres a Gandhi mural on the alley outside; although not strickly Irish per se, he was a good one and named a street in New Dehli ” Eammon De Valera Street” ’cause of tricolor-transnational anti-colonial friendship. 🇮🇪🇮🇳 . And we all love that
